Everything's better under the sea, apart from Coco Rosie.

Ahhh my goodness i cannot believe i had forgotten the true brilliance of disney films! See, I went to Ardant's last night with a few friends, just to bum about and not spend all our money basically and we ended up watching 'The Little Mermaid'. This is a regular event for Ardant, myself and a select group of wonderfuls, although last night there was a sad little Friar shaped hole cos Friar needed a sleepy. Once everybody had gone home, Ardant and I stayed up till CBeebies, discussing how Sam's sperm was "reaching for the sky", eating beans on toast and realising that the webcam had been on for the past two hours, during which Georgia had nearly fallen off the bed with excitement upon finding that the Little Mermaid DVD had a 3D reconstruction of the ride that "almost got built" at Disneyworld.

Back to the Little Mermaid however, I was surprised when i began to recall things a split second before they happened despite not having seen the film during the past decade, and found myself creased with laughter at Scuttle. I don't remember the film being so funny when i was younger so either i didn't get it as a child or my humour has just regressed to an appropriate state having fizzled out my brain cells as a result of high levels of cheap alcohol. Who knows?

Also there was some pretty dark bits in that film that always went over my head as a kid - like the little slimy things? I never realised they were souls of mermaids before and so they became quite creepy to me watching now - just look at them!

Just a second, if you haven't heard of Coco Rosie i think you should watch this because it's what i'm listening to as i write this and it's beautiful.

I heard these two sisters are seeing the same man. Weird.

Anyhoos yes, so i truely recommend taking a little time out of your busy schedule, whatever that may be composed of, to watch a film you loved as a child and haven't seen since. You'll be surprised how much you still enjoy it as an adult. Disney never loses its magic, and as a result i still refuse to watch any of these Disney "sequels" which ruin the originals. What would Walt say? Please note that it's not that i actually like Walt Disney as a man - I'm still trying to find a respectable portrayal of a black person in the disney films. But regardless, the whole idea of stories after the "Happily Ever After" is just wrong in my eyes. Hey, while we're at it, why don't we just go all out and make The Bible 2: Jesus in the City?! Ugh.

Ah watching film's you loved as a kid is always an interesting and rewarding experience... the two I remember most are dvds I brought to uni with me- 'The Goonies' and 'The Empire Strikes Back' (always have a place in my heart for the 'Star Wars' triology
